SANDRA WINTER
Executive Director

I was born and raised in Zimbabwe. After arriving in the USA, I lived in Kentucky for 5 years then moved to Half Moon Bay and now live in Moss Beach. I was a Board member at Senior Coastsiders from October 2014 to January 2019 and have been the Executive Director since April 2019. I love working here because of the meaningful work we do in meeting the needs of our Coastside community, the great staff who are so dedicated to their work, the compassionate and loyal volunteers, and the engaged and committed board. My professional and educational experiences include being a business owner, financial director, and senior research scholar, an undergraduate degree in accounting, Master’s in Health Administration and PhD in Public Administration. My favorite thing to do is to walk my dog on the beach. I'm also a huge Formula 1 racing fan!

I was born and raised in Central Kentucky and moved to California in 2000, no looking back! I’ve been with Senior Coastsiders since 2016 and love the diversity of opportunities that this fast paced environment provides. Even more though I LOVE the interactions with older adults and the stories and experiences they share. My prior work experience covers a wide range from French interpreter and competitive gymnastics coach to substitute teacher and volunteer fundraiser for the HMB Library. I share my downtown home with an amazing husband, funny teenage son, and the recent addition of a Bernedoodle puppy. I love gardening, spending time with friends, and working on our home renovations.

I’ve been blessed to work for this amazing organization since 1996. I’ve had an affinity for working with older adults since my first job as a nurse’s aide in high school. I grew up in Irvine and moved to Northern California to study Gerontology at Sonoma State. One of my favorite things about working at Senior Coastsiders is the wonderful people in our community. I so value the close relationships developed over the years and the imparted wisdom. I live with my family in San Bruno with our two cats, bird and pet chicken. In my free time I enjoy bikram yoga, being outdoors and recently started classes in regenerative agriculture and permaculture.

I was born and raised in San Francisco and moved to HMB in 2005. I began working at SC in 2017, and have volunteered in various capacities at Senior Coastsiders since 2006. Prior to joining the staff at SC, I worked in the legal field for 40+ years which I found to be very rewarding much like my work here at SC. Knowing that offering even simple assistance to one of our clients will make a difference to them is personally gratifying to me. I have one son who lives with this wife and daughter in Washington state. I love living on the Coastside and the opportunity it presents for outdoor activities such as hiking, bike riding and beach combing. My hobbies include working out, cooking, reading, working in my yard, and various art projects among other things.

I was born in Venice Beach, CA. I have lived in Canada Cove since 1985 - 36 years! Before that, my darling Alex and I were in San Francisco on Ashbury. I have worked/volunteered at the Senior Center for 10 years. Working at the here gives me great sense of accomplishment. I am an original “Valley Girl”. My Family lived and moved in many places in the San Fernando Valley, SoCal - where the term was coined. I love driving back and forth to work as I can spot White Egrets, Great Blue Herons, our little Raptors, Deer, Ground Squirrels, Rabbits, and an occasional Coyote lopping along in our fields.

A native Californian, I was born in San Diego at the Naval hospital but have lived in Guam and Oregon but really grew up in Yuba City. Now I'm just a 5-minute walk away from Senior Coastsiders and have lived in Half Moon Bay for over 20 years. I celebrated my 1-year anniversary with Senior Coastsiders in October. I love the variety of work and knowing what we do makes a positive difference in our community. I have experience in physical education, safety, training, operations, human resources and have 3 separate nutrition certifications. My hobbies include hiking, drawing, exercise, drinking champagne and dancing. After a serious health scare in 2015, I switched to a completely plant-based, whole food diet and never looked back- I love it.
