CAROL JOYCE, Board President

I joined the Senior Coastsiders Board in 2017 to use my background in law, mediation and politics to work with fellow board members, staff and the community to meet challenges in providing for the needs of older adults and their families today and in the future. I received my B.A. in Political Science at Michigan State University, my JD at The University of Michigan Law School and my M.A. in Political Management at George Washington University. My husband and I moved to the Coast in 1990.

I first moved to Half Moon Bay in 1972 where I grew up and attended local schools. I returned in 1995 to manage a local bank and continue today helping clients organize, grow and protect their wealth through my practice at Edward Jones. My 30 years of financial services experience is shared on boards of Senior Coastsiders and the Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay. I am married to Betty and we have five daughters.

I moved from San Francisco to the Coastside in 1972 with my husband Mike and our two sons. I had a 30-year career with the local school district, where I held positions from school secretary to administrative assistant to the superintendent. My interests have led to volunteering on many different levels, including the Pumpkin Run, Taste of the Coast and Seniors’ Night Out. I can’t think of a better place for helping our community than Senior Coastsiders.

I have lived in Half Moon Bay since 1991 with my husband, Greg, raising our two sons here. I helped Senior Coastsiders with the Pumpkin Run and Taste of the Coast for about 10 years before joining the Board in 2018. My diverse work experience includes time with the federal government, public schools, as a small business owner and currently as a non-profit executive. I am delighted to bring these varied perspectives to the governance of this great organization.

I’m a native Californian who had a career in banking for over thirty years. I was a Trust Officer and Operations Manager for a regional bank and trust company in San Mateo. We focused on trusts, estates and investment management. I’ve lived on the Coastside since 1981. I enjoy this unique community and like to give back by volunteering. Currently I am a member of the Half Moon Bay Rotary Club, I am an adult tutor for the library and look forward to my favorite Senior Coastsiders volunteer event, Home Rehab.

I have had a home in Half Moon Bay since 2011, and have lived in HMB full time since 2014. I truly love the Coastside community, and I’m on the Board of Senior Coastsiders, Coastside Land Trust, Half Moon Bay History Association and Stanford Coastside Club. My background is in Process Improvement, Project Management and Client Management. As a realtor with Alain Pinel Realtors, I thoroughly enjoy helping clients both buy and sell homes on the Coastside.

My husband, Chris Devcich, and I moved from Southern California to the Coastside in 1999. After raising our two older children in LA, we are grateful for the opportunity to raise our two younger daughters in Half Moon Bay. I joined Senior Coastsiders’ Board in 2009, after volunteering  for Taste of the Coast. Following a 20-year advertising career, I now work as a marketing contractor at Google. I earned my MBA in Marketing and Finance from USC and my BA from Georgetown University.

As a resident of the Coastside for 33 years, I have been fortunate to volunteer in a variety of roles for Senior Coastsiders during the past fifteen plus years.  I am also involved with Special Olympics and have coached tennis and soccer on the Coastside for the past twenty years.  My professional career has been in the accounting and finance area where I have worked for a variety of companies in the Bay Area.

I am semi-retired and have served on the board of Senior Coastsiders since 2010. In 1989 I founded Macro Thinking, an independent management consulting firm working with senior leadership of major global corporations in a variety of industries. A Coastsider for more than 40 years, my personal interests include: travel, community service, cooking, photography, hiking, camping, kayaking and mountain biking. I attended Serra High School and San Francisco State University.
