Cara Schmaljohn's Lasting Legacy

Cara's dedicated service and commitment to improving the lives of older Coastside adults made a tremendous impact in our Community. Under Cara's leadership, the services and programs at Senior Coastsiders expanded from meal provision, transportation, and classes and activities, to include home repair, care management, and a growing volunteer program. One of Cara's greatest achievements was the capital campaign conducted in partnership with the Coastside Adult Day Health Center that resulted in the construction of the Senior Housing Campus in which both our organizations are now located.

The Cara Schmaljohn Legacy Fund was set up when Cara retired and honors her commitment to the long-term health and sustainability of Senior Coastsiders. During Cara’s tenure over a million meals were served to Coastsiders.
